Puppetry Meets Live Camera — The Ultimate Live Cinema Experience
Drak Theatre is one of the most renowned puppetry companies in the Czech Republic, standing alongside Alfa Theatre in shaping and leading the nation’s puppetry scene. This production is among the company’s most accomplished works in recent years. Their dynamic manipulation techniques transform Jack London’s White Fang into a puppetry work that poetically narrates a swift journey of a wild wolfdog through the vast wilderness of the Yukon and the Northwest Territories. At the centre of the performance is Milan Hajn, who fulfils three complex roles with remarkable precision and charismatic presence: an actor portraying the wolfdog; a puppeteer manipulating the wolfdog; and a cameraman capturing the wolfdog’s point of view. The performance is also accompanied by live jazz piano, performed by Jiří Vyšohlíd, a living legend who has composed and performed music for the company continuously since 1968.
